*** Time to raise your prices

Welcome to the “How to Coach” weekly newsletter.
This is where I share insights, training, do’s, and don’ts from my 19 years of experience, so you can progress faster than I did and learn what I wish I’d known sooner!
All in the pursuit of YOU becoming the BEST coach your clients will ever meet.

My first coaching client I charged $375 for 10-1 hour appointments.
That’s $37 ,+ some change,  per appointment. (and I drove to their office for the appointment)

My last client I onboarded was $100k.

Yes, you can definitely raise your prices.
When you’re ready.

If you're not ready, it could really mess up your mojo, so don’t jump until you're ready.
Here’s some signs that it’s time…

  1. SOLID - Are you getting confident in holding your appointments?  Less jumpy, less worried, more sure of yourself? If so, this is a good sign it’s time.

  2. CLARITY - Do you make sense to your clients? Have you learned how to explain the details well? Are they simple and doable?  You’ll know if you are doing well in this category if your clients are following your instructions.

  3. EFFECTIVE - Does your coaching work? Clients making progress? Solving problems? Success stories happening?

  4. TESTIMONIALS - This is the frosting on the cake…when you are receiving testimonies on a regular basis it sure screams loud that the feedback says you have great value!

  5. EXPERIENCE - How many clients have you worked with now? I have seen coaches raise their prices every 5-7 clients. One time I challenged myself to raise my price with every new client I had for the next 4 clients….and I went from $5k to $6k….to $7,500 to $10,000.  Blew my mind.  I figure if they said no to the price, I could knock off a few thousand and go back to my regular price…sure glad I tested it out.

  6. PERSONAL GROWTH - Did you just recently achieve a new level? A new goal? Lose some weight? Run more miles than normal? Finish a new class or book? Anytime you Level-Up personally your energy is spiking…so take your pricing with you, move your price up during that same time as your personal growth and notice how easy it was to settle in to that new level/

  7. EXPOSURE - Maybe you're getting known? You went on TV or were on a Podcast or walked on someone's stage to deliver content ... .if you're getting noticed, raise your price, if you don’t…you could shut down your energy and opportunities will stop coming your way.

OK, so what % do you raise your prices?
20-30%

How often do you raise your price?
Depends on the 7 items in list above.

Could you double your price this year?  Yes.
Could you triple your price this year? Yes.

But what if you have one client at $5k…another client at $7500…and another client at $10k ... ... ..that seems odd to have 3 clients all at different prices, but you're holding all 3 appointments in the same day.
How do you psychologically deal with that?
Are you ripping off the 2 higher priced clients?
NO, the 2 lower priced clients are getting a deal, they are lucky they signed up when they did or they would be a $10k client, too.

Is it ok to teach the same content to all 3 different priced clients? Yes.
The 2 lower priced clients just got an upgrade because you are now a $10k coach.
They win. You're winning. No one gets ripped off.

It’s your mentality that gets to level-up to be a 10k or 25k or 100k coach.

Now, if you raise your price… and you are not mentally ready and you don’t feel qualified ... you won’t sleep very good at night… Your body will have a come-apart… and you will keep getting sick over and over again.

You will be out of alignment… so don’t raise your price, it’s not worth the internal disruption.

I like using these techniques to Up-Level my psychology -

  • Personal Story - Story about who I am becoming - read each day.

  • Declarations - Short bold powerful statements about what I’m becoming.

  • Vision Board - Visualization practice of what I plan to create.

  • God Letters - Write God letters and scribe what He writes me back.

My value is up to me. It’s my job, no one else can do it.

I love the line in the Rocky Balboa movie where he says…

”If you know what you're worth, then go out there and get what you're worth”!!!

He’s giving a speech to his son about his value!

So, raise your POV (Point of View) about what you are worth.
Then set up your coaching process to mirror that.
Then tell others what you can do for them and how it will change their lives.
Give them the price…and they will be shocked at how much they get for such a reasonable price.

Consider raising your price in the next 60 days.
You’ll wonder why you waited so long to do it.
It’s ok…you deliver great value, you’re one of a kind!
