Yesterday I took one of my clients and his son fishing.  The weather was going to be good and it’s always a great day to go fishing.  It was awesome!  We caught a ton of fish.  Before we left on our adventure I had his son try on some lifejackets to make sure one fit him.  Why?  You know why….just in case they fall in reeling in a big fish or in case the boat sunk.  Safety is obvious in this case, but what about safety in your coaching / mentoring business?

One of my top 7 questions I want to know the answer to is….What’s your Safety Guidelines for coaching?

Is it really that big of a deal?  To have Safety Guidelines?  If you don’t think it’s a big deal….obviously you're new at it.

When there’s no safety in place…someone is going to get hurt sooner or later.  Even if you are NEW at being a coach, start your business out in a smart way.

These are Safety Guidelines that I have created along the way for a reason, to protect myself and my clients.  You can copy and paste…or at least start creating your own rules today.

These 3 different sets of screen shots were typed up for different classes I was teaching at different times.  ALL of the rules apply.  I added this screen shots to this email so I didn’t have to retype them all and so you could see the different types of rules.  If I were you…scoop up all of them.  

You might have questions about WHY? I had to add that safety measure…just know…I either had a close call with that particular issue or I saw what happened to someone I knew and I chose to add that rule to my own list so I could avoid unnecessary issues.

Out of all of these…I would highly suggest that you at least audio record your appointments.  Tell your client that you are recording the appointment.  It causes them to edit or filter what they are going to share with you and I am 100% ok with that.  I don’t need to hear information that I really shouldn’t hear.  I then save those recordings for 1 year, after that I delete them.  Those recordings have saved my bacon so many times.  I also made sure the client got a copy of the recording.
