Your Personal Hall of Fame

fool-proof fix to being stuck

It’s Thanksgiving this week!

Which got me thinking about one of the areas clients get stuck pretty often.

They drown in junky thoughts of:

  • “I hate this”

  • “that’s terrible”

  • “nothing goes my way”

But there’s one fool-proof way to interrupt this pattern.

I call it your Personal Hall of Fame, and you can use it with your client no matter where they are stuck.

It goes like this:

  1. Have your client ponder for a couple minutes on the people who have impacted them most in life. Could be a parent, school teacher, T-ball coach, a neighbor… maybe even someone they found online and have never met!

  2. Have them list out these names one by one. If your life had a Hall of Fame, they’d be in it!

  3. For one week, have them choose one name from the list each day and write a letter to that person expressing specifically what they’re grateful for.

  4. Encourage them to share each letter with the person for real. Best case scenario, have them hand deliver it. Next best is to call the person on the phone and read it to them. Third best is to mail them the letter.

One experiment by the Soul Pancake YouTube channel found people who did an exercise like this were immediately 19% happier than before.

Have them try this and report back to you at the end of the week on how it went, and if they feel any different after this experience!

Even cooler would be for YOU to do this first - then share you story and invite your clients to do it too.

Unexpressed gratitude feels like ingratitude to the ones for whom you are grateful.
