How to Coach
I walked into the restaurant and it was a busy day for lunch…I looked around to see if there were any open seats, nope, nowhere to sit. Being busy like that is great for the owner….but then I watched as others had walked in…looked around…and walked out.
There’s only so much room for chairs and tables at the restaurant, but what about your calendar? What about your mental capacity?
Could that fill up?
Could there be people who would like to coach with you, but they picked up on the vibe from you that you are maxed out?
Yep, Maximum Capacity is a real thing.
Space fillers?
Clients?
Challenging clients?
Personal challenges?
Family challenges?
Problems you’re stewing on?
Deadlines…
Binge watching stuff…
Worrying…
Oh….the list goes on…
When I first started I had this small room to teach a workshop in and the room got packed…I thought it was the biggest class ever…it was 20 people. Wore me out. I was mentally tapped with 20 people in that room. Funny to look back on this when I am doing 1,000 person seminars.
Here’s the thing, you have room to grow.
You are not at your maximum right now.
It only feels like it.
But if you pull back or think this is all you got, your going to miss out on the STRETCH that will happen.
You can increase your maximum capacity.
That does require you to STRETCH…meaning…get to the part where you don’t think you can do much more…and do just a little bit more….that stretches the mind…I promise, you won’t die. It might sting for a bit…you’ll stretch.
2 things to remember while stretching…
Making mistakes is part of the stretch. Embrace the mess ups. Be ok with the awkward stretch that will uplevel your lifestyle! Everyone goes through this phase, you can, too.
You got to tell your mind that this won’t kill you. If you have ever been a runner, sooner or later your mind will speak up and tell you to stop because it feels like you are going to die….stretching your capacity won’t kill you or stress you out when you are doing it on purpose.
Ok, there’s 3, not 2….#3 - Congratulate yourself on the successful (maybe awkward) stretch! You did it! Tag it with some positive vibe. Next time your mind won't resist as much.
When you are ready for more clients, take on a personal challenge, a new goal. Something different than just adding more sales to your month, take on a personal goal that you are going to strain and struggle for and achieve. That vibe is your best marketing energy. Who wants to follow a lazy and content coach anyways….no one!
4 Common Sabotages to watch out for:
Your mind will waste time…so you don’t have time for a new client. Why get a new client? The mind is trying to conserve calories and live longer on what you ate for breakfast.
Drama! Too much drama! Drama floods the mind and makes it seem like you don’t have time for anything else. Cut out the drama and be more factual so you don’t get tricked by this one.
Over complicating things is a big sabotage. Keep it simple. Simple.
Perfectionism is a popular mind trick, makes you seem like your job is never done. Always fixing your program, fixing other stuff, making sure it’s all just right before you take big action. While you are trying to make everything better…there are coaches who are enrolling clients.
Coaching is the best. I love it.
Keeping your mind in good shape and free of the clutter and distractions is daily work.
The levels of understanding that you will reach and teach at are incredible!
You are miles ahead of most people…you are good enough to coach others right now.
Believe it…and act like it. Set up that next coaching appointment.
