Coaching Roadblock:
Why is it… that the more I know, the dumber I feel?

It sure seems like the more I know…the more I realize how much I don’t know.
Why is that?

I was on a coaching call with a client and they were asking me about healing techniques. These are steps and processes to help a person mend and recover from hurtful situations. Before I could answer that question I needed to clarify which direction to go with them, so I asked, “Is this the first time this has happened to your client or is it a repeating pattern”? They commented back….”wow, that opened up my mind, I now have a lot more questions to ask….”

It feels like an opening…or expansion. 
At first it feels empty, because it is.
It hasn’t been filled in with the details yet….you know there’s more…it’s just not there yet.

Our mind opens up when we realize there is MORE to the topic.
Sometimes you can actually feel it happen in your mind or actually….in the space around you.
The realization that there is more here than what meets the eye ... .but you don't know what the “more” is…but your mind opens up a new “section” to prepare to receive it. Even to the point you don’t know the questions to ask, but you know there is more to acquire.

Why is this important to understand?
Well….you could hit a ROADBLOCK.
ROADBLOCKS stop coaches. I have seen coaches who were really good at coaching….have a “mind expanding” experience….and now they feel really dumb…and the expansion struck them so hard it shut them down.

Now their problem was ... .they acted like they “knew it all” and when they found out there was soooooo much more than what they realized ... .they went from “I’m a smart coach”....to feeling “oh crap, I only know a fraction about this”.

Maybe their ego was popped and deflated ... ..maybe they were a little prideful about their level of skill ... ..whatever it was, they had a shock happen to them and now they feel small.
Sure, it makes sense…you want to be a “smart” coach ... .and “know” as much as you can ... .but it’s a lot smarter to approach your skill and understanding with the mindset of….there sooooo much more to learn.

Maybe we call that “Teachable” or “Always be a Student” or “Eat more humble pie”?
Either way, look forward to the MIND EXPANDING experience….and stay present so you can fill in that “new space” with as much understanding as possible.

Feeling dumb, feeling like you don’t know much is part of learning. Guaranteed there are people who WISH they could know and understand what you do.  You are ahead of a LOT of people. You don’t see that because you are always concerned with how far behind you feel.  Yeah, you are actually the leader of a mass group of people who wish they could learn and do what you currently know how to do.

I call that the “law of the freeway”. Funny saying, but it’s true.

Get on the freeway….look in front of you….
see all those people you are behind….
seems like you are last inline. Now look in the rearview mirror….
Ahhhh, look, there are people behind you…you are in front of them. 
So….YES, you are behind certain people….AND you are ahead of others.  
It’s always going to be this way….you can’t get away from it.

So how do you EXPAND and not feel dumb?
Call it for what it truly is….

➡️ Wow, I just realized I have room to grow.
➡️ This just opened up more opportunities.
➡️ Awesome! My mind expanded again!
➡️ I love being a student.
➡️ I’m a fantastic coach AND an incredible student.
➡️ I want to learn more, I’m looking for where I’m blind.
➡️ Thank you, you opened my eyes.

✅ The KEY here is to be a FOREVER STUDENT 🏆

Since you’re a coach…you are on a FOREVER path of Mind EXPANDING experiences.
You’re not dumb…
You’re not behind…
You’re not worthless…
You’re learning.

You’ve been given a specific assignment on what to teach others. You play a vital role in getting that information out there and to those who are looking for it. The enemy doesn’t want you to complete your mission. Guard your head and protect your thoughts as though they are priceless and sacred. Whatever gets in your head is what will end up controlling you. 

YOU BE THE ONE... in your head the MOST!

Encourage, motivate, empower, educate, forgive yourself as much as needed to keep you moving forward.
