5 pillars to your clients' success

if they're not reaching their goals, go back to these

“But coach, I’m doing exactly what you’ve said. Why haven’t I gotten my goal yet?”

These words scared the cooties out of me the first time I heard them.

Does that mean I’m failing as a coach?

Am I doing something wrong?

Is it all my fault?

Yes, and no.

In sports, is it all the coach’s fault if their team loses a game?

Obviously the players hold a huge amount of that responsibility too.

So while it may not be all your fault, there’s probably something more you can do, and I wanna give you a framework for how to think about this.

Anyone’s success in anything rests on 5 pillars:

  1. People skills

  2. Systems

  3. Education

  4. Mindset

  5. Hard work

It’s easy to say “I have the perfect system! I’m educated and working hard!”, but not realize you’re lacking in people skills and mindset.

This is what coaching is all about - asking the right questions to help your client realize where they’re missing a piece, and then helping them build that piece.

And I have good news: you don’t have to be the know-it-all either!

You just get to oversee the process and keep them accountable as they discover what their next step is.

So next time your client feels like they’re “doing everything right” but not getting their goal:

  • Show them this framework

  • Help them find out together where they’re lacking

  • Have them set action steps toward improving in that area

It’ll be an eye-opening experience for both of you.

Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.
